Our Story

πŸ“– The Origin Story

Born in the cockpit.
Not a boardroom.

The story behind Rantallion, why it exists, where the name comes from, and why it was made by a pilot, for pilots, and anyone else who's ever had a sling-load problem.

✈️ The Founder

Capt. Billy
'Madcow' Rowett

14 years flying military helicopters across the Top End.Β Logged over 10,000 hours total time, hauling sling loads through the Kimberley, the Pilbara, on tour overseas, and god-knows-where in PNG. Started Rantallion in 2022 after one too many 4-hour longline jobs spent thinkingΒ there has to be a better way.

There wasn't. So he built one.

Before Rantallion, Billy had tried everything, military-grade issue, premium DTC brands, specialist aviation gear. Everything either bunched under a flight suit, chafed on a longline job, or fell apart after three washes in hard water. And when you're sitting in a Blackhawk with both hands on the controls, cyclic in the right, collective in the left, readjusting isn't an option.

He sketched the first design on the back of a fuel docket somewhere over the Kimberley. The sling-load pouch was on it from day one.

πŸ”— The Name

Where
Rantallion
comes from.

In aviation, aΒ rantallionΒ is the rigging system, the cables and attachment points, used to hang a heavy sling load beneath a helicopter. The pilot's job is to keep that load stable. Keep it controlled. Stop it from swinging around in the wind, or bashing into a treeline, or causing a catastrophic dynamic rollover.

The parallel to men's anatomy was obvious.

The name stuck. The brand was born.

The Aviation Term

AΒ rantallionΒ is the sling-load rigging attachment on a helicopter. It keeps the load stable, controlled, and exactly where it needs to be.

The Analogy

A well-designed pouch does the same thing for theΒ otherΒ load guys carry. Separates it. Supports it. Stops it swinging around during movement.

The Promise

Precision engineering for something that deserves precision engineering.Β Keep your load under control.

🎯 What We Stand For

Three things
we don't compromise on.

πŸ› οΈ

Engineered, not marketed

Every feature solves a real problem. The pouch exists because re-adjusting mid-flight is a genuine safety issue. The side-slip panels exist because chafe on a 6-hour shift is a genuine pain in the ass. Nothing is there because it sounds good in an ad.

πŸŽ‹

Sustainable from the start

Bamboo isn't a marketing checkbox, it's the right material for the job. Antibacterial, moisture-wicking, temperature regulating, and one of the most sustainable crops on the planet. We use it because it works better, and because it's the right thing to do.

🀝

Built for the bloke

No celebrity endorsements, no unnecessary packaging, no $80 price tag because a sports brand paid an influencer to talk about it. Just well-designed, pilot-tested gear at a fair price. Sling load secured. Wallet intact.
